How to File an Auto Insurance Claim

If you find yourself in our auto body shop before speaking with your insurance company, this page will guide you on filing an insurance claim for your vehicle!

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Get your police report, photo evidence, video evidence, etc.
  2. Contact the insurance company at fault (this will be listed in your police report).
  3. Let them know you need to start a claim.
  4. Get a claim number.
  5. Each insurance company has their own procedures for filing a claim:
    • The insurance company may accept our estimate – get us the claim number; we will write the estimate and submit it.
    • The insurance company may ask you to take pictures to send in for a photo estimate – once the estimate is completed, get it to us along with the claim number.
    • The insurance company may send an estimator to write an estimate – once the estimate is completed, get it to us along with the claim number.
  6. Do not be alarmed if the estimate written by the insurance company seems low; it is simply a starting point to get the ball rolling.  We will be able to supplement the insurance company for any additional parts, repairs, etc. needed to repair your vehicle correctly.
  7. It is your vehicle; it is your choice to choose the repair shop! Do not allow the insurance to direct you to use one of their preferred shops!  We work for you, not the insurance company!
  8. If you are at fault, ask for your deductible amount if you are unsure of the deductible amount.  The deductible will be paid to us (the body shop) once repairs are completed.
  9. If you do not get a timely response from the insurance company at fault, reach out to your insurance provider for guidance and further assistance.
